SINGAPORE, MARINA BAY STREET CIRCUIT — Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing) held off Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) for his first-ever win in Singapore, while Carlos Sainz completed the podium and Max Verstappen finished P7 in the rain delayed Singapore Grand Prix. Perez pushed hard in the final laps to finish 7 seconds ahead of Leclerc. Perez did this anticipating a penalty for a Safety Car infringement. After a post-race review, Perez retained his victory despite receiving a five-second post-race penalty.

With the win by Perez, he moves into a stronger 3rd place in the F1 Driver Points and strengthens his P3 position in our gofullthrottle.net F1 AI Driver Rankings.

Perez’s Red Bull Racing teammate Max Verstappen still has a commanding Championship Points lead, 104 ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Carlos Sainz is now ranked P4 in our GFT F1 AI Driver Rankings, where George Russell is P4 in F1’s Driver Points — primarily because our algorithms give significant weight to wins. Sainz has 1, Russell has 0.

What did the winner have to say?
“Yeah, it was certainly, I think, my best performance,” said race-winner Sergio Perez. “I controlled the race although the warm-up was pretty difficult. The last few laps were so intense. I really didn’t feel it so much in the car but when I got out of it, I felt it.

“I pushed — I gave everything for the win today.”
