CIRCUIT ZANDVOORT, NETHERLANDS — Max Verstappen was a man on a mission in front of his home crowd at Zandvoort for today’s Dutch GP. Verstappen started from Pole position after a last second Q3 lap that Saturday that earned him the P1 position. There was intense rain on and off during the 72 lap Grand Prix, but nothing was going to stop Verstappen from winning his 9th straight F1 race, nor would the rain dampen the “Orange Army” Dutch fans enjoying yet another victory. Verstappen has now tied Vettel’s consecutive race win record at 9 and will seek to become the record holder in Italy next Sunday.

Joining Max Verstappen on the podium were Fernando Alonso P2 and Pierre Gasly finishing P3.

In the points battle for (other than Verstappen), Checo Perez holds on to P2 with 201 points, Fernando Alonso P3 with 168, Lweis Hamilton P4 with 156, and Carlos Sainz moves up to P5 with his 5th place finish, now with 102 points.

“It’s incredible,” said race-winner Verstappen. “Also today, they didn’t make it easy for us with the weather, to make all the time the right calls. I’m incredibly proud. I already had goosebumps when they were playing the national anthem before the start. Even with all the bad weather, the rain, the fans were still going at it, so an incredible atmosphere.”

The next stop on the 2023 F1 calendar will be Monza for the Italian Grand Prix weekend, which takes place from September 1–3.
