CIRCUIT ZANDVOORT, NETHERLANDS — In what turned out to be a runaway win at the historic Zandvoort Circuit, McLaren’s Lando Norris secured a statement victory, denying Max Verstappen a fourth consecutive home win on his “home” course. Despite starting from pole, Norris was overtaken by Verstappen at the first corner. However, Norris showcased remarkable resilience and pace, reclaiming the lead and ultimately finishing 20 seconds ahead of the Red Bull driver. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished 3rd.
A Battle of Strategy and Skill
The race began with Verstappen taking an early lead, breaking free of the DRS window. Norris mounted a fierce comeback, capitalizing on Verstappen’s mid-stint grip issues. By the time of the sole pit stops, Norris had extended his advantage, demonstrating the superior pace of his McLaren. Norris would win by over 23 seconds over the World Champion Verstappen.

“It feels amazing once again,” said Norris. “I wouldn’t say a perfect race, because of Lap 1 again, but afterwards the pace was very strong — the car was unbelievable today. I could get comfortable, I could push and get past Max, which was the main thing, and I just [went] from there. Honestly, [it was] quite a straightforward race. Still tough, but very enjoyable.”
Looking Ahead
The next stop on the F1 calendar is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, where the battle between Verstappen and Norris will continue.
