LAS VEGAS, NV — Joey Logano made his Team Penske Crew Chief Paul Wolfe’s fuel strategy call deliver a key NASCAR Palyoff victory here Sunday to win the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and become the first Round of 8 driver to lock-in to NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4.
Logano only led the closing six laps, holding off pole sitter Christopher Bell (№20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota), who dominated the race leading 155 laps, by 0.662-second to secure the win.

It was heartbreak again for Christopher Bell, who started from the pole and was clearly the car to beat, leading 155 of the 267 laps.
Other playoff contenders had rough days. Of the Round of eight drivers:
Tyler Reddick finished 35th after a frightening roll-over crash in the infield
Chase Elliott finished 33rd, 37 laps down after being caught up in the crash that launched Reddicks roll-over across the front stretch.
Ryan Blaney finished 32nd, 4 laps down in a back up car and damage from the Reddick crash
Kyle Larson finished 11th after rallying back from being two laps down and trouble on pit road.
Of the Playoff drivers- Bell, Byron and Hamlin joined Logano in the top 10.
THAT WINNING FEELING — Joey Logano brings joy and laughter to the winner’s post-race press conference, but says “As proud as I am that we’ve made it, [to the Championship 4] I also feel like the job’s far from being over…”
The Cup Series will continue the Round of 8 at Homestead-Miami Speedway next Sunday (2:30 p.m. ET, NBC, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, NBC Sports App).
