Joey Logano Wins NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway

AVONDALE, AZ — Joey Logano drove his №22 Team Penske Ford Mustang Dark Horse to victory today in the NASCAR Championship season finale at Phoenix Raceway. For Logano, it’s his 3rd Cup Championship and a 3rd straight championship for Team Penske who capped the day with a one-two finish for as Ryan Blaney brought home his №12 Team Penske Ford Mustang in 2nd place. Hendrick Motorsports William Byron, also competing for the season championship, finished 3rd. Tylor Reddick, the 4th of the Championship 4 drivers, finished 6th.

Logano is the only active driver to win three Cup championships.

Jeff Gordon on how the race went for Hendrick:
“We weren’t going to beat those guys today. They were in a league of their own… 2–3 tenths of a lap faster at the end…we did all we could. It just wasn’t our day.”
