BRISTOL, TN — Kyle Larson Shines in Emotional Bristol Victory

What a weekend for Kyle Larson and the Hendrick Motorsports Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series teams. After finishing 2nd in the Truck race Friday night and winning the Xfinity Series race on Saturday, Kyle Larson was virtually unchallenged, leading 411 of 500 laps to win the Food City 500 NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Bristol Race Summary:

Kyle Larson dominated the NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, leading 411 of 500 laps to secure his second win of the season and 31st career victory. Driving the №5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, Larson swept both stages and held off Denny Hamlin by 2.250 seconds for the win. The race, marked by only three cautions and four lead changes, was the fastest short-track event in Cup Series history at 117.703 mph. Larson dedicated the emotional win to Jon Edwards, Hendrick Motorsports’ Director of Communications, who passed away unexpectedly at 53 earlier that week. Hamlin finished second, followed by Ty Gibbs in third, Chase Briscoe in fourth, and Ryan Blaney in fifth. The event saw minimal incidents, with Alex Bowman’s engine failure being a notable setback.

“This one’s definitely for Jon,” Larson said, reflecting the team’s heavy hearts. The triumph followed Larson’s Xfinity Series win and a second-place Truck Series finish, narrowly missing a historic Bristol triple.

Bristol’s high banks tested tire management and strategy, but Larson’s №5 team executed flawlessly. His 31st career victory solidifies his status as a championship contender in 2025.
